CEO
Tim is the Chief Executive Officer at Ion Strategies, directing the vision of the firm and leading investment strategy, methodology, and execution. Deeply connected in the digital assets industry, he has over 10 years of market experience with a focus on Bitcoin. He is an industry thought leader and has spoken at the largest Bitcoin conferences in the world. He also resides on the Board of Directors at the Texas Blockchain Council, advocating for balanced public policy.
Prior to founding Ion, Tim practiced as a CPA for 14 years. He was an accomplished Tax Partner at Weaver and was highly successful in building the firm’s blockchain and digital assets practice, advising digital asset investment funds, financial services companies, and bitcoin miners. Earlier in his career, he spent 3 years at Ernst & Young, working with global financial enterprises and ranked as an elite Senior at the firm.
Giovanni Capriglione
CPO
Giovanni is the Chief Policy Officer at Ion Strategies, advising on firm operations and managing relations with investors, executives, and the public. He brings sophisticated knowledge and unique perspective from his 13 years serving as a Texas State Representative, where he was Chairman of the Pensions, Investments, and Financial Services Committee in the State House of Representatives. As a State Representative, he was highly successful in leading innovative legislation and championed multiple digital asset bills that were passed into law.
Concurrent with his role at Ion, Giovanni manages his own private equity and venture capital investment funds, where he focuses on senior and mezzanine investments in Texas-based businesses. He has over 15 years of experience participating in all levels of fund management.
Hunter Forsberg
CRO
Hunter is the Chief Research Officer at Ion Strategies, focusing on tactical market opportunities and data analytics. He has deep knowledge of digital asset markets with over 8 years of experience studying, trading, and transacting across various blockchain networks. He leverages his extensive understanding of decentralized accounting and finance to design theses and investment processes for the strategies.
Prior to Ion, Hunter began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers before moving to Weaver as an experienced Senior Associate and technical expert in the blockchain and digital assets practice. During his time at Weaver, Hunter worked with many digital asset investment funds, fintechs, and defi foundations.
Paula Pendley

Paula is a Special Legal Advisor at Ion Strategies, counseling on operating matters, regulatory compliance, and due diligence. She is a highly experienced litigator with over 16 years of experience in federal and state law. In the digital assets space, she advises the largest bitcoin mining companies in the world on risk management, energy impact, environmental matters.
Concurrent with her role at Ion, Paula is a Partner at Nelson Mullins, concentrating her practice on product liability, mass tort, and emerging technology. She has handled high-profile cases in venues coast to coast, and her extensive experience in the courtroom sets her apart.
Michael Lewellen
CTO
Michael is the Chief Technology Officer at Ion Strategies, advising on operational security and technical infrastructure. He is a blockchain technology strategist and software architect with over 14 years of experience designing highly complex systems. He also resides on the Board of Directors at the Texas Blockchain Council as a board officer.
Concurrent with his role at Ion, Michael is the Head of Solutions Engineering at Turnkey, where he advises leading financial institutions and blockchain protocols on cybersecurity, key management, and infrastructure design. Earlier in his career, he worked at OpenZeppelin as Head of Solutions Architecture for the majority of his 4 years at the company.
